Kampala, Uganda — The Uganda Police Force through its Kampala Metropolitan Police South (KMP South) division conducted coordinated disruptive security operations on February 23 and 24, 2026, targeting major crime hotspots across several areas.

The operations were carried out in locations including Mukwano Roundabout, Railway Line, and 6th Street under Kabalagala Police Division; Zana Parish in Makindye-Ssabagabo Division under Katwe Police Division; and additional areas such as Valley Zone in Salaama, as well as Nakasozi, Kimbejja, Magwa-Mpangala, Kisozi, Nakiragala, Nagalabi, and Sumba under Nsangi Police Division.

Security teams targeted identified criminal planning points and areas associated with narcotics abuse, mugging, simple robberies, and motorcycle theft.

A total of 109 suspects were arrested during the operations across the divisions. The suspects are currently in custody undergoing screening procedures before being processed for court.

Police also recovered several motorcycles and registration number plates suspected to be linked to motorcycle theft networks operating within the metropolitan area.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, KMP South remains committed to sustained security operations aimed at reducing criminality and improving public safety in the metropolitan region.

He urged the public to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and avoiding known crime hotspots.

Authorities said similar operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in Kampala.
