Police in Kampala are investigating a robbery and assault incident that occurred at Chezz Boss Mutoto Bar in Munyonyo on December 27, 2025, in which several patrons were attacked and robbed of their mobile phones.

According to a statement issued by the Kampala Metropolitan Police, preliminary findings indicate that a group of suspects descended on the bar and assaulted customers, robbing at least four victims of their phones.

The suspects are alleged to have been led by a businessman identified as Shakib, who operates in the Kasanga area. Shakib Cham Lutaaya is an internet personality and the husband of South Africa-based Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan (aka Zari The Boss Lady).

A case of robbery and assault has since been registered at Kabalagala Police Station, and police investigators have visited the scene as part of ongoing inquiries. Authorities say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals who took part in the attack.

As part of the investigations, Shakib has been summoned to report to Kabalagala Police Station to assist with the inquiries.

Police condemned the incident, describing it as an act of violence and lawlessness, and assured the public that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly.

“The Police strongly condemn acts of violence and lawlessness and assure the public that investigations will be conducted to their logical conclusion to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.

Police said further details will be communicated as the investigations progress.
