KAMPALA – Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a viral social media video in which he allegedly made references to criminal activities along Jinja Road and within Banda, Kampala Metropolitan Police has said.

The suspect, identified as Wafula Solomon, a resident of Banda Zone III in Banda Parish, Nakawa Division, was arrested by officers attached to Banda Police Post at about noon on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the arrest followed the circulation of a video on social media platforms, including X, in which the suspect allegedly made statements relating to criminal activities in the Jinja Road corridor.

Police said investigations are underway to establish the circumstances under which the video was recorded and whether the suspect or any of the individuals mentioned in the footage have been involved in criminal acts committed along Jinja Road and its surrounding areas.

Authorities also announced that they are working to identify other individuals referenced in the video and determine whether they have any links to criminal activity.

Police cautioned members of the public against producing, sharing or circulating content that glorifies, promotes or appears to endorse criminal conduct, warning that such material can undermine ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain public order.

“Appropriate action will be taken against anyone found to have participated in criminal activities,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

The police spokesperson added that investigations remain ongoing and that further action will be guided by the findings of the inquiry.
