South Africa and Tanzania have been recognised as two of the world’s most naturally beautiful countries, according to a recent ranking by Travel & Leisure, shared by the statistics account World of Statistics.

South Africa ranked 13th globally, praised for its diverse landscapes, from the iconic Table Mountain and lush Garden Route to the wildlife-rich Kruger National Park. Tanzania closely follows at 14th place, celebrated for its breathtaking Serengeti plains, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the idyllic spice island of Zanzibar.

The ranking highlights global travel destinations across categories, including: Best tourist destination: Japan, Underrated hidden gem: Nepal, Best for families: Italy, Best for couples: Maldives and Best for solo travellers: Indonesia.

Tourism experts note that recognition in such global rankings can boost international visitor numbers, further supporting local economies. South Africa, with its well-established tourism infrastructure, and Tanzania, renowned for safari adventures, are expected to see increased interest from international travellers.

Additionally, the statistics account shared data on countries with the largest African diaspora. While Brazil leads with over 112 million people of African descent, countries like the United States and France also host significant populations. The data highlights the global presence and influence of Africans beyond the continent.

Tourism officials in both South Africa and Tanzania have welcomed the recognition, emphasising the importance of sustainable tourism that preserves natural heritage while benefiting local communities.

With such global attention, both countries are likely to continue attracting tourists seeking both adventure and natural beauty, cementing their status as must-visit destinations in Africa.
