The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Lino Anguzu, has clarified that Rose Tusiime, who was with the late Afrigo Band singer Moses Matovu when he was attacked and killed, will not be charged in connection with his death.
Anguzu said Tusiime is instead expected to assist investigators and prosecutors as they build the case against the suspect, Arnold Nsamba.
The clarification follows questions surrounding Tusiime’s presence with Matovu at the time of the attack and the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
According to the DPP, Tusiime is being treated as a person who can provide information relevant to the investigation and prosecution of the case, rather than as a suspect.
Her cooperation is expected to help investigators establish what happened before, during and after the attack on Matovu.
Nsamba remains the suspect facing the case over Matovu’s death.
The DPP’s clarification means Tusiime will not face criminal charges arising from Matovu’s killing, while investigators and prosecutors continue to pursue the case against Nsamba.
Matovu, a veteran member of Afrigo Band, was attacked and killed in an incident that prompted investigations into the circumstances of his death.
