The Uganda Police Force in Adjumani has recovered a number of stolen items following a burglary incident, after deploying a sniffer dog to track down suspects.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 9, 2026, at around 2:30 a.m. in Molokpda Village, Central Parish, Adjumani Town Council. Unknown assailants reportedly broke into the residence of Angu Mark Nelson and made off with several valuables.

The stolen items included a laptop, smartphone, television set, two TV remotes, documents, a padlock and other household property.

Police said the victim reported the matter shortly after discovering the break-in and requested support from the canine unit.

Officers responded swiftly and deployed sniffer dog T/P 262 ROBBIN, which picked up a human scent from the scene and tracked it for approximately 300 metres.

The trail led officers to the home of a suspect identified as Ojja, who was not present at the time of the operation.

A search conducted at the premises led to the recovery of several items believed to have been stolen. These included a laptop, smartphone, documents, two TV remotes, a padlock, an adjustable spanner suspected to have been used in the break-in, as well as other household items such as a mattress, chairs, bags and a backpack.

Police said the suspects remain at large, but efforts are underway to track them down and bring them to justice.

Authorities have praised the effectiveness of canine capabilities in crime detection, noting that such оператив support continues to play a crucial role in supporting investigations and recovering stolen property.
