WAKISO — Police in Wakiso are investigating circumstances under which a four-year-old boy sustained severe burn injuries in an incident being treated as aggravated torture.

The case was reported to Wakiso Police Division on August 24, 2026, after a resident of Buloba Village, Buloba Parish, Wakiso Sub-county, reported that the child had allegedly been severely burnt at Ssala Village, Kavumba Parish, Wakiso Town Council.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the child had been staying with his aunt when he sustained the injuries on August 18.

According to the aunt, the boy was injured after hot water from a kettle accidentally fell on him.

Police responded to the report, arrested the aunt and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the injuries.

The child is currently receiving treatment at Janat Medical Centre.

Police said statements have been recorded from both the complainant and the suspect as investigators seek to establish what happened.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
