Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested 58 suspects during a series of operations conducted across Kampala, Entebbe, Kisubi and Kasangati between September 30 and October 1.
The operations targeted areas identified by police as crime-prone and were aimed at disrupting suspected criminal activities.
In Kampala Central, police conducted operations in Nakasero, Biwoloma, Nile Coach, Mini Price and Kisekka, arresting 18 suspects.
Police said the suspects were detained at Kampala Central Police Station pending further legal action.
In Entebbe, officers conducted an operation in Kitala Cell, commonly known as Bagdadi, along Garuga Road, targeting people suspected of engaging in activities that disturb communities during late hours.
Seven suspects were arrested during the operation, with police reporting the recovery of suspected narcotic substances. Two of the suspects were allegedly arrested while attempting to break into a shop.
At Kisubi, police arrested 15 suspects in the Bugiri-Kiwulwe area following reports of activities involving the smoking and distribution of cannabis at Mwaalo landing site.
Police said suspected cannabis seeds and rolled sticks were recovered during the operation.
In Kasangati, operations were conducted in Nakwero A and Lusajja, as well as Kazinga and Bulamu.
Police said 14 suspects were arrested in Nakwero and Lusajja, while another four suspects were arrested in Kazinga and Bulamu for alleged possession of suspected narcotic substances.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, all the suspects are being processed in accordance with the law and will be taken to court where appropriate.
Police said the operations will continue alongside targeted patrols, surveillance and community policing in identified crime-prone areas.
The force has also urged members of the public to share information about suspected criminal activities in their communities.
