The Uganda Police Force has arrested at least 111 suspects in a series of disruptive operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks within the Kampala Metropolitan Area and neighbouring districts.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the police said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, robbery, theft and other unlawful activities that threaten public safety.

According to the police, a joint operation was conducted on February 1, 2026, at about 11:00 pm in Kigombya, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District. The operation targeted a mapped-out black spot known for harbouring criminals involved in smoking marijuana, waylaying and robbing members of the public.

“During the operation, 11 suspects were arrested and are currently in police custody pending prosecution,” Police said.

In a related development, Kampala Central Police Station (CPS), working together with local leaders, carried out another disruptive operation codenamed “Fukuza Mafisadi” on January 30, 2026, at about 6:00 pm.

The operation covered several crime-prone areas, including Nakasero, Entebbe Road, Nasser Road, behind Church House, Railway Grounds, Punjani, the Electoral Commission area and Mukwano.

Police said the operation targeted youths who loiter at identified black spots before engaging in crimes such as snatching mobile phones and handbags, as well as stealing vehicle parts from motorists stuck in traffic jams.

A total of 100 suspects were arrested during the operation and are expected to be arraigned in court today, February 2, 2026.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led and community-supported operations to ensure safety and security across the Kampala Metropolitan Area and urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
