Wakiso — The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) at State House, working with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), has arraigned a man before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court over alleged forcible entry, destruction of crops and theft in a land dispute.

The suspect, Ssentamu Gerald, was charged before court and remanded until September 24, 2026.

According to the ACU, Ssentamu is accused of falsely claiming ownership of a kibanja on land comprising Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10 and 12 in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.

Prosecution alleges that between October 30 and November 4, 2025, Ssentamu and other suspects who had earlier been charged and remanded over similar offences violently entered and took possession of the disputed land.

The land was reportedly occupied by Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd.

The suspects allegedly mobilised a large group of people who entered the property and destroyed tree plantations, coffee trees and other natural vegetation.

They are also accused of stealing nine motors belonging to coffee milling machines, reportedly the property of Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd and valued at approximately Shs100 million.

The ACU said Ssentamu’s alleged claim to a kibanja on the land was false and formed part of the circumstances surrounding his prosecution.

The latest arrest and arraignment follows earlier action against other suspects allegedly connected to the same incidents.

The case is being handled jointly by the Anti-Corruption Unit, ODPP and CID as investigations into the disputed land and alleged offences continue.

Ssentamu remains in custody pending his next court appearance on September 24.

The charges against him are allegations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
