Ugandan musician Rap Gie, best known for his hit song Namudiguli, has died, according to a report aired on Galaxy TV on Tuesday.

The broadcaster announced the news, sparking an outpouring of grief across the music industry and among fans.

By the time of publication, the cause of death and surrounding circumstances had not been officially disclosed, and no formal statement had been released by the artist’s family or management.

Rap Gie rose to prominence following the success of Namudiguli, a track that enjoyed heavy rotation on radio and television and established him as one of the emerging voices in Uganda’s urban music scene.
