KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda’s media fraternity is mourning the loss of veteran journalist Joseph Sseruwoza, a respected Parliament reporter and political talk show host at BBS Terefayina, whose death has sent shockwaves through the country’s journalism community.

News of Sseruwoza’s passing emerged on Friday, prompting an outpouring of grief from fellow journalists, political leaders, media personalities and viewers who followed his work over the years.

Widely regarded as one of the familiar faces on Uganda’s political reporting beat, Sseruwoza built a distinguished career covering parliamentary proceedings, governance issues and national political developments. Through his reporting and television appearances, he earned a reputation for balanced analysis, professionalism and a deep understanding of Uganda’s political landscape.

At BBS Terefayina, Sseruwoza became a trusted voice among audiences seeking insight into parliamentary debates and public affairs. His ability to simplify complex political issues and present them in an accessible manner made him a household name among Luganda-speaking viewers across the country.

Colleagues who worked alongside him described him as a dedicated journalist whose commitment to accuracy and fairness earned him respect both within newsrooms and among sources across the political divide.

“Joseph was passionate about journalism and always approached his work with professionalism and humility,” one colleague said. “He believed in informing the public and helping citizens understand the decisions being made on their behalf.”

Throughout his career, Sseruwoza remained a constant presence at Parliament, where he covered key legislative debates, government policies and major national events. His reporting helped bridge the gap between policymakers and ordinary citizens, making parliamentary business more accessible to the public.

His death has reignited conversations about the demands placed on journalists, particularly those assigned to the high-pressure world of political and parliamentary reporting. Friends and colleagues noted that despite the challenges of the profession, Sseruwoza remained committed to his craft and continued to serve audiences with diligence.

As tributes continued to pour in, many remembered him not only as a skilled reporter but also as a mentor, friend and colleague whose calm demeanor and willingness to support younger journalists left a lasting impact on those around him.

By Friday evening, family members had not yet released official details regarding the cause of death. Funeral and burial arrangements were expected to be communicated in due course.

Joseph Sseruwoza leaves behind a legacy of public service through journalism, having dedicated years of his life to informing Ugandans about the issues shaping their country. His contribution to political reporting and broadcast journalism will be remembered by colleagues, viewers and the wider media fraternity for years to come.
