Ugandan media personality and DJ Lynda Ddane has been spotlighted in Apple Music’s “Sounds of Africa” campaign for Africa Month 2026, with the release of her exclusive “Sounds of Kampala” DJ mix.

Ddane, a television presenter with NTV Uganda and radio host at KFM Uganda, shared the news with her followers, describing the feature as a major milestone in her career.

“Excited to share my exclusive ‘Sounds of Kampala’ Mix, created for Apple Music’s ‘Sounds of Africa’ campaign as we celebrate Africa Month 2026,” she posted on social media.

The mix is part of a wider continental initiative by Apple Music that highlights the unique musical identities of major African cities through curated playlists and DJ sets.

According to reports, the 2026 edition of the campaign expands its reach to include cities such as Kampala, Cairo, Casablanca, and Dakar, reflecting Africa’s growing influence on global music culture.

In Kampala’s case, the campaign brings together artists, tastemakers, and cultural voices to showcase the city’s evolving sound—blending traditional influences with modern genres like Afrobeats, dancehall, and Amapiano.

Ddane’s DJ mix is described as a sonic journey through the Ugandan capital, capturing its diversity and energy across generations of music.

The “Sounds of Africa” initiative, launched by Apple Music, aims to celebrate the continent’s cultural richness by spotlighting local scenes and connecting them to global audiences through streaming platforms.

Industry observers say such features are increasingly important for elevating African creatives, particularly DJs and curators, who play a key role in shaping musical trends but often receive less visibility than recording artists.

Ddane’s inclusion in the campaign places her among a growing list of African cultural influencers helping to define the continent’s sound on the global stage, as digital platforms continue to expand access to African music worldwide.
