Kakumiro District — Police in the Albertine region have launched investigations into a violent home attack that left a 38-year-old woman dead and several members of her household injured in Kakumiro District.

The victim, Victoria Namulindwa, was attacked at her home in Rwensera B Cell on the night of February 27, 2026, when suspected assailants reportedly broke into the house armed with heavy sticks.

According to police, the attackers assaulted members of the household, leaving Namulindwa and four others with severe injuries. Three of her children and a domestic worker were also hurt during the incident.

All the victims were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

However, Namulindwa later succumbed to her injuries, while the children and the domestic worker are reported to be in stable condition and expected to recover.

Police have since arrested two suspects, identified as Jordan Kibuka (25) and Semata, also known as Kidewalime (23), in connection with the attack. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

Preliminary findings suggest the suspects may have been targeting homes across Kakumiro District in suspected robbery attempts. Investigators are also examining whether the two could be linked to other similar incidents reported in nearby communities.

Police said the attack appeared to have been planned and carried out with the intention of stealing from the household.

“The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and whether they are connected to other crimes in the area,” police said in a statement.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or activities in their communities.

Community members in Kakumiro have expressed shock over the killing, describing the incident as a tragic loss for the family and the area.

Police say more information will be released as investigations progress and have reassured the public of their commitment to bringing those responsible to justice.
