TALLAHASSEE, USA — Uganda’s long-distance maestro Jacob Kiplimo has rewritten the history books, winning the World Athletics Cross Country senior men’s title for the third consecutive time in a stunning display of endurance, strategy and class at the 46th edition of the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida.

In a commanding performance over the 10 km course on Saturday, January 10, 2026, the Ugandan champion claimed gold in 28:18, further solidifying his status among distance-running greats.

This remarkable triumph marks three straight senior world titles for Kiplimo — a feat achieved by only a handful of legends — and his fourth World Cross Country gold overall, adding to the U20 title he won in 2017 on home soil in Kampala.

Uganda also shone in the men’s senior team competition, clinching the bronze team medal in a highly competitive battle that saw Ethiopia take gold and Kenya silver.

This podium finish at a major global championship highlights Uganda’s depth in long-distance running and marks another proud moment for Team Uganda on the world athletics stage.
