Castellón, Spain — Ugandan long-distance runner Harbert Kibet delivered a stunning performance at the Facsa Castellón 10K road race on Sunday, clocking 26 minutes and 39 seconds to win the men’s race in one of the fastest times in history.

In the elite field, Kibet’s time was not only enough to secure the victory but also the world-leading mark for 2026, placing him among the fastest 10 km performers ever recorded.

France’s Yann Schrub finished second in 26:43, setting a new European record, while Sweden’s Andreas Almgren completed the podium with 26:45.

The event saw exceptional depth, with several athletes posting high-level times over the flat and fast course in Castellón.

Kibet’s impressive performance reflects the continued rise of Ugandan athletes on the global road-running stage, following in the footsteps of other great distance stars from the East African region.
