Over 170 youths from various backgrounds have completed vocational training under MunguFeni Foundation, marking another milestone in the organisation’s mission to promote self-reliance in Arua City.

The three-month programme equipped beneficiaries with practical skills in tailoring, garment cutting and hairdressing, preparing them for self-employment and income generation.

Speaking at the graduation, RCC Betty Akello Otekat encouraged the graduates to view the training as a stepping stone toward long-term transformation. She emphasised the importance of utilising vocational skills alongside government livelihood programmes such as PDM.

Principal Education Officer Raymond Ombere stressed the value of perseverance, advising graduates to continuously sharpen their skills and practice saving, noting that consistent savings, however small, can fuel future growth.

Lawrence Econi, an administrator at MunguFeni Foundation, said the foundation has trained over 200 vulnerable persons in Arua City this year. He encouraged the graduates to immediately apply their skills by starting small enterprises.

Founded by Benard Feni, MunguFeni Foundation has trained over 400 students since its inception, starting with an initial cohort of 55 learners. The event also saw the foundation and its leaders engage more with the community. Feni noted that the foundation is currently implementing five to six community projects, targeting over 300 youths, orphans, and underprivileged individuals, including the unemployed, to help them improve their livelihoods and create jobs for themselves.

Mungu Feni Foundation operates without external funding, mobilising local resources to address pressing community needs. The foundation earlier signed an MoU with the NGO Forum, which supports 50% of its empowerment activities.

Benard Feni said the organisation was established to empower vulnerable individuals and communities through compassion, service, and faith.

“The foundation was founded to uplift and transform lives through charity, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable development, guided by Christian values and the belief that with God, all things are possible,” he noted.
