Kampala/Naivasha — Equity Bank Uganda and Equity Group Holdings Plc have added two major accolades to their growing list of achievements, highlighting the Group’s leadership in public relations and digital transformation.

At the 9th PRAU Excellence Awards held on December 4, 2025, at Protea Hotel in Kampala, Equity Bank was recognised as the winner in the Best Crisis Communication Management category, celebrating its exemplary performance in raising the bar for professional public relations.

The awards night, dedicated to honouring outstanding PR practitioners, showcased innovative approaches to stakeholder engagement, strategic communication, and crisis management.

“Congratulations to Equity Bank for this remarkable achievement,” said the PRAU Awards committee, praising the institution for its strategic PR excellence and ability to navigate complex communication challenges.

In a parallel recognition of its technological innovation, Equity Group Holdings Plc was named the winner of the CIO100 Award 2025 in the PlusOne Awards Banking Sector Category during the CIO100 Symposium in Naivasha, Kenya, held on December 3, 2025.

The event, themed “Innovation at Scale: Driving Business Growth Through IT Leadership”, honoured 100 organisations across Africa for outstanding digital transformation and technology leadership.

Equity’s award underscores the Group’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies—including generative AI, edge computing, and integrated digital platforms—to enhance operational resilience, promote inclusive financial services, and deliver value to customers across the continent.

“This is an honour that recognises the work of our incredible team at Equity,” said Michael Kwofie, Chief Information Officer, Equity Group. “We are grateful for this recognition and look forward to achieving even more in the coming years.”

Equity Group CEO Dr James Mwangi added, “This award is a testament to the power of purpose-driven leadership and the extraordinary synergy between vision, innovation, and execution. At Equity, we are not just leveraging technology to improve banking; we are reimagining what is possible for Africa.”

Equity has invested heavily in technology infrastructure, digital platforms, innovation labs, and AI-driven systems, strengthening fraud controls, service uptime, and customer trust. Its integrated digital ecosystem continues to expand access to underbanked and underserved communities, advancing the Group’s mission to transform lives, create opportunities, and foster economic empowerment across Africa.
