Kisozi — Dr Flavian Zeija has been formally sworn in as Uganda’s Chief Justice during a ceremony held at President Yoweri Museveni’s country home in Kisozi, ushering in a new phase of leadership for the Judiciary.

The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by President Museveni, who hosted the event at his private residence. Dr Zeija assumes the country’s top judicial office following his recent appointment by the President, succeeding the outgoing leadership at a time of heightened public attention on the justice system.

In his remarks after taking the oath of office, Dr Zeija expressed appreciation to President Museveni for the trust and confidence placed in him, noting that the Chief Justice role marks his fourth presidential appointment within the Judiciary.

“This appointment is a significant milestone in my service to the country,” Dr Zeija said, pledging to serve with dedication and integrity.

He committed to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding judicial independence and promoting professionalism across all courts, while working to strengthen public confidence in the administration of justice.

Dr Zeija’s elevation comes at a time when the Judiciary is under increasing public scrutiny, with growing expectations for efficiency, integrity and impartiality in handling cases of national importance.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the legal fraternity and other invited guests.
