Uganda’s entertainment and nightlife scene is in mourning following reports of the death of popular city disc jockey DJ Ciza, a familiar figure whose energetic sets helped shape Kampala’s party culture.

DJ Ciza, born Mwalye Seth, reportedly passed away on Saturday. Preliminary information suggests he may have suffered a sudden heart-related complication, though an official cause of death had not been confirmed by press time.

The news has stunned fans, fellow entertainers and event promoters, many of whom say he appeared active and in good health in the days leading up to his reported passing.

Fondly known as “The Real Crowd Pleaza” and “Muzukulu Wa Decka,” DJ Ciza was celebrated for his ability to read audiences and seamlessly blend different music genres. His performances were a regular feature at major nightclubs, concerts, corporate events and private functions across the capital.

Beyond his skill behind the decks, DJ Ciza earned respect for his professionalism and humility. Colleagues often described him as approachable and supportive, noting that he frequently mentored younger DJs navigating the competitive entertainment industry.

Following news of his reported death, tributes flooded social media, with fans reminiscing about unforgettable nights driven by his mixes and fellow DJs praising his passion and work ethic. Many credited him with playing a key role in defining Kampala’s modern nightlife experience.

Sources close to the DJ said he had upcoming engagements and personal plans, making the reports of his sudden death particularly painful for those who knew him. His passing has also sparked renewed conversation about health awareness among entertainers, especially those working long hours in demanding nightlife environments.

By the time of publication, no official family statement or details regarding funeral arrangements had been released. Members of the entertainment community, however, continue to express solidarity with his family and loved ones.

If confirmed, DJ Ciza’s death marks the loss of a vibrant and influential figure whose impact went beyond music to the joy and connection he brought to audiences across Kampala.
