Uganda’s Yeko Elisha and Solomon Cherotwo delivered a strong performance for the country after winning medals at the FISU World University Cross Country Championships in Italy.

Elisha claimed the gold medal in the men’s 10-kilometre race, finishing in 30:27, while Cherotwo secured bronze with a time of 30:40. Japan’s Hiromichi Nonaka took silver in 30:36.

Both athletes are students at Bugema University, highlighting the growing role of Ugandan universities in developing elite long-distance runners.

The championship, organised by the International University Sports Federation, brings together top student-athletes from universities worldwide to compete in cross-country races.
