State House photographer Abu Mwesigwa is set to launch a new book titled “Moments with Mzee”, offering a visual and narrative insight into the life and leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The book, which compiles photographs and personal reflections from years of presidential coverage, is scheduled for launch on May 8, 2026, in Kampala.

According to reports, the publication captures rare and candid moments of the President, blending imagery with short narratives that document key aspects of Uganda’s political and social history.

Mwesigwa, who serves as a senior photographer in the Presidential Press Unit, said the project reflects years of close work documenting both official engagements and personal moments involving the Head of State.

“The book is a collection of moments that cannot be recreated—brief, powerful instances that tell a bigger story about leadership and national development,” Mwesigwa said in earlier remarks.

He added that the idea behind the book was inspired by the evolving nature of storytelling, where visual documentation plays a central role in communicating history and leadership narratives.

The book has reportedly received endorsement from President Museveni, with officials noting that it highlights both public and private dimensions of leadership, offering readers a deeper perspective of Uganda’s governance journey.

Government communication officials have described the publication as part of broader efforts to document Uganda’s contemporary history through photography and storytelling.

Cultural and media stakeholders have also welcomed the initiative, saying it contributes to preserving national memory and showcasing leadership through visual archives.

The launch is expected to attract senior government officials, media practitioners, and invited guests, with copies of the book to be made available to the public.
