The Entebbe High Court Circuit has convicted Charles Kyagaba, described by authorities as a notorious land grabber in Wakiso District, on multiple criminal charges linked to fraudulent land dealings and violence against residents.
According to the Anti-Corruption Unit – State House Uganda, Kyagaba was found guilty of malicious damage to property, fraudulent procurement of land titles, criminal trespass, assault and forcible entry, among other offences.
The conviction follows years of complaints from residents in Entebbe and other parts of Wakiso District who accused Kyagaba and his associates of illegally claiming ownership of their properties through fraudulent means.
In a statement released on Thursday evening, the Anti-Corruption Unit said Kyagaba, together with accomplices still on the run, had “for years terrorised residents in Wakiso, especially in Entebbe, by fraudulently claiming ownership of their properties.”
Court records indicate that the case stemmed from investigations launched in 2022 after widespread public outcry over escalating cases of land grabbing in the area.
Kyagaba was first arrested and arraigned before court through a joint operation involving the Anti-Corruption Unit, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Criminal Investigations Directorate.
Authorities said the prosecution presented evidence linking the convict to illegal acquisition of land titles and violent evictions targeting lawful occupants of disputed land.
The conviction is being viewed as a significant step in ongoing efforts by government agencies to crack down on land fraud and protect property owners from organized land grabbing syndicates that have plagued parts of Wakiso District.
Kyagaba is expected to return to court for sentencing on May 18, 2026.
The case adds to a growing number of high-profile prosecutions targeting land fraud suspects amid increasing public concern over illegal evictions and fraudulent land transactions in central Uganda.
