KIRA, Wakiso District — Police in Kira Division have launched investigations into a suspected murder following the discovery of a decomposing body believed to be that of a missing woman.

The deceased has been identified as Naziwa Oliver, 52, a resident of Kito ‘A’ in Kirinya, Kira Municipality.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the case was initially reported on April 28, 2026, after relatives raised concern over her disappearance, which dates back to October 2025.

On May 4, police conducted a search at a suspect’s residence, where the body was discovered in a locked room alongside clothing identified as belonging to the deceased.

Two suspects, including Nanyonjo Rose—a biological relative of the deceased—have since been arrested to assist with investigations.

The scene was processed, statements recorded, and the remains transported to the city mortuary for postmortem examination.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects may have been operating a cult-like group that discouraged members from seeking medical treatment and conducting proper burials.

Police have warned the public against engaging in illegal cult activities, noting that such practices pose serious risks to life. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
