KAMPALA, Uganda — The Court of Appeal of Uganda has presided over the swearing-in of newly appointed members of the Tax Appeals Tribunal Uganda, marking a significant step toward strengthening tax justice and dispute resolution in the country.

The ceremony was conducted in accordance with the Tax Appeals Tribunal Act, which governs the tribunal’s mandate to adjudicate tax-related disputes between taxpayers and the revenue authority.

The newly sworn-in members include Bagamuhunda Kenneth Apollo, Rebecca Nassimbwa Nsumba, Edward Biryetega, and Agaba Gerald Kakima.

Their appointment is expected to bolster the tribunal’s capacity to handle tax disputes efficiently, enhance accountability, and reinforce public confidence in Uganda’s revenue systems.

The Tax Appeals Tribunal plays a critical role in ensuring fairness in tax administration by offering an independent platform for resolving disputes, thereby supporting compliance and strengthening the country’s overall fiscal framework.

Officials noted that the addition of new members will help improve the speed and quality of case handling, contributing to a more transparent and effective tax regime.
