Luanda – Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has arrived in Luanda, Angola, where she will represent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit, which officially opened on Sunday.

The high-level summit brings together Heads of State and Government from both the African Union and the European Union, alongside senior government representatives, to reaffirm their shared commitment to multilateralism, solidarity, and coordinated action in addressing global and regional challenges.

In a statement shared on her official channels, Prime Minister Nabbanja said she was honoured to stand in for President Museveni at the pivotal gathering, which offers an important platform for reinforcing cooperation between Africa and Europe.

“I have arrived in Luanda, Angola, to represent H.E. President Kaguta Museveni at the 7th African Union-European Union Summit,” she said. “The summit brings together Heads of State and Government of the two unions to reaffirm their shared commitment to multilateralism, solidarity, and joint action to address common challenges.”

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) also confirmed her arrival, noting that Uganda is committed to deepening AU–EU relations, particularly in areas such as peace and security, migration, trade, energy transition, climate resilience, digital transformation, and youth empowerment.

This year’s summit is expected to focus on strengthening Africa–Europe partnerships in line with evolving global dynamics, as well as reviewing progress under the Joint Africa–EU Strategy. Leaders will also deliberate on mechanisms for boosting sustainable development, enhancing investment, and responding to geopolitical and socio-economic challenges affecting both regions.

Uganda’s participation underscores the country’s ongoing commitment to regional and international cooperation under President Museveni’s leadership. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State House, Parliament, and Uganda’s diplomatic missions are expected to follow the summit’s proceedings closely.

The two-day meeting aims to renew political dialogue between Africa and Europe and chart shared priorities for the coming years, at a time when both continents face intersecting challenges that demand coordinated and forward-looking solutions.
