UNEB dismisses fake PLE results notice

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has dismissed as false a notice circulating online alleging that the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results will be released on February 25.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the examination body said the notice did not originate from UNEB and warned the public against being misled by unverified information circulating on social media and messaging platforms.

UNEB explained that the fake notice, which started circulating earlier this week, falsely quoted board procedures and improperly used UNEB branding in an apparent attempt to appear authentic. The board said it became aware of the misinformation after receiving numerous inquiries from parents, candidates and school administrators seeking clarification.

“UNEB has not announced any date for the release of the 2025 PLE results. Any information suggesting otherwise should be treated as false,” the board said, adding that all official communication on examinations and results is issued only through its verified channels.

The board urged members of the public to rely on announcements made via its official website, verified social media accounts and formal press briefings. It noted that the spread of false information causes unnecessary anxiety and confusion among candidates and their families.

UNEB also warned that individuals involved in the creation and circulation of fake notices risk facing legal action under laws governing misinformation and the impersonation of public institutions.

The examination body assured candidates and other stakeholders that once the marking and verification processes are concluded, the official date for the release of the 2025 PLE results will be communicated clearly and in good time.

The Primary Leaving Examination is a key national assessment that determines learners’ transition from primary to secondary education, making the release of its results highly anticipated nationwide.
