Morocco’s attacking talisman Brahim Díaz has been crowned the Puma Golden Boot winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 after a standout scoring campaign that placed him at the top of the tournament’s goal charts.
Backed by passionate home support, the Atlas Lions forward finished the competition as the leading scorer with five goals, adding to his earlier achievement of emerging as the top scorer in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. The rare double highlighted Díaz’s consistency and central role in Morocco’s run to the final.
Despite Morocco falling short in the championship match, no other player matched Díaz’s goal tally, securing the Golden Boot for the Real Madrid forward.
Díaz’s AFCON 2025 campaign was defined by reliability at every stage of the tournament. He opened his account with Morocco’s first goal in a 2–0 victory over Comoros, before finding the net again in a 1–1 draw with Mali. He then produced a brace against Zambia to seal a dominant group-stage performance.
The 25-year-old continued his scoring run in the knockout rounds, netting against Tanzania in the Round of 16 and Cameroon in the quarterfinals, scoring in five separate matches during the tournament.
That feat placed Díaz among a select group of players in AFCON history to score in multiple consecutive games in a single edition of the competition.
With his Puma Golden Boot triumph, Díaz has etched his name into Moroccan football history, becoming one of the country’s most prolific scorers in a single AFCON tournament and setting a new benchmark for consistency on the continental stage.
