Just 10 days before polling day, Patricia Kenyangi, the National Unity Platform (NUP) Woman Member of Parliament candidate for Ibanda District, has officially joined the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Kenyangi, who is married to Peter Mpaka—the former NUP flag bearer for Mbarara City North who also defected to NRM last month—cited lack of financial support from NUP leadership as a key reason for her switch.

“I had expected support from NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), but it never came through,” she said, adding that her husband experienced the same challenge.

Her defection marks a significant setback for NUP in Ibanda, coming less than two weeks before voters head to the polls.
