The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has deregistered 50,003 companies from the national companies register for failure to comply with statutory filing requirements.
In a public notice issued on December 30, 2025, the Registrar of Companies said the affected firms were struck off in accordance with Section 130(6) of the Companies Act, Cap. 106, after failing to file annual returns for a period of five years.
URSB explained that the deregistration followed earlier public notices dated July 20, August 14 and August 30, 2023, which required defaulting companies to apply for restoration within twelve months. Companies that did not comply within the stipulated period were consequently removed from the register.
“The Registrar of Companies has deregistered 50,003 companies that failed to apply for restoration within the prescribed time,” URSB said.
The Bureau noted that once deregistered, a company ceases to legally exist and cannot conduct business, enter into contracts or enjoy any legal protections until it is lawfully restored in line with the Companies Act.
URSB has published the full list of deregistered companies on its official website and encouraged company directors, shareholders and the public to verify the status of their entities.

The mass deregistration is part of URSB’s efforts to clean up the companies register, improve compliance and strengthen Uganda’s business environment by ensuring that only active and compliant entities remain on the official register.
