Ndejje University has once again stamped its authority on university sports after emerging overall champions at the 20th Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games, clinching the title for a record seventh time.

The latest triumph, achieved in December 2025, adds to Ndejje’s previous overall championships in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2023, cementing the institution’s reputation as a powerhouse in university sports.

Team Ndejje, famously known as the Lions, returned with an impressive medal haul of 12 gold, eight silver and six bronze medals across several disciplines, including athletics, table tennis, bridge, karate, swimming, badminton and handball.

December 19, 2025, proved to be a standout day for the university, with athletes registering dominant performances across multiple events. In badminton, the men’s doubles pair secured gold, while the women’s doubles team claimed silver. Ndejje’s shuttlers also recorded notable victories over Kyambogo University and Makerere University Business School.

The handball team continued its strong run with a convincing win against Mbarara University of Science and Technology, while the bridge team delivered commanding 20–0 victories over Kampala International University and Victoria University.

University officials attributed the success to disciplined preparation, teamwork and strong institutional support. The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Christopher Mayanja, was present throughout the tournament, offering hands-on support to the athletes from the opening events to the final whistle.

“Our Lions roared to victory, guided by faith, discipline and unity,” the university said in a statement, noting that the consistent success reflects a sustained commitment to sports development, mentorship and a values-driven approach.

The university also praised its communications team for keeping the community informed during the games, highlighting the role of the Public Relations Office in sharing results and milestones in real time.

Ndejje University continues to field teams in a wide range of disciplines, including badminton, bridge, darts, handball, woodball, pool, table tennis and tennis, as the institution looks to build on its legacy of excellence.

With seven overall AUUS titles now to its name, Ndejje University’s dominance signals not only sporting excellence but also a long-term investment in nurturing talent and holistic student development.
