Kampala — A long-awaited concert by Ugandan music star Vinka has been confirmed for later this year after students from Makerere University stormed the offices of Swangz Avenue, demanding action from the artist’s management.

The dramatic scene unfolded earlier this week when a group of enthusiastic students marched to the label’s premises, calling for a debut concert from the self-styled “Boss Man Jah.” The protest quickly gained attention online, reflecting growing pressure from fans across multiple universities who have long called for the singer to headline her own major show.

In response, Swangz Avenue publicly confirmed that the concert will indeed take place before the end of the year, urging fans to stay tuned for further details on the date and venue.

The confirmation was also echoed by Swangz Avenue co-founder Benon Mugumbya, who reportedly addressed the students and reassured them that preparations for the concert are underway.

According to posts circulating on X (formerly Twitter), an emotional Vinka was visibly moved by the show of support. Witnesses say the singer shed tears of joy as she emerged from the offices following the confirmation, highlighting the significance of the moment both for her and her fan base.

Vinka, known for hit songs that have dominated Uganda’s airwaves, has yet to stage a major standalone concert despite her growing popularity over the years. The announcement therefore marks a milestone in her career and a victory for her loyal supporters.

While specific details remain scarce, anticipation is already building among fans, with many expecting one of the year’s biggest entertainment events.

More information about the concert, including ticketing and venue, is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
