The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has officially concluded its recent recruitment exercise, resulting in the selection of 1,312 new rangers to bolster the nation’s frontline conservation force.
In a public notice issued on May 5, 2026, the Authority confirmed that the successful candidates will now transition to the training phase of their service. The recruitment is part of a strategic effort to enhance the protection of Uganda’s diverse wildlife and manage its sprawling conservation areas more effectively.
Commencement of Training
All selected recruits are mandated to report for the start of their official training on May 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The training will take place at Kabalega Secondary School in the Masindi District.
UWA has issued a strict warning that any candidate who fails to report by the designated date and time will be deemed to have forfeited their opportunity to join the force.
Reporting Requirements
To ensure a smooth transition into the training program, recruits are required to bring several personal items and official documentation, including: Original National Identity Card (Mandatory for entry), One 2-inch mattress and a pair of bed sheets, One pair of sandals and one pair of sports shoes, a bucket and a backpack for personal items, green or black round-neck T-shirt and torch (dry cells will be provided by the Authority).
Verification and Transparency
The full list of selected recruits has been made available to the public through noticeboards at the respective Conservation Areas where interviews were conducted. Additionally, the list can be accessed digitally via the official Uganda Wildlife Authority website.
