KAMPALA – Uganda’s celebrated dance group, the Triplets Ghetto Kids, has arrived in the United States ahead of their historic performance alongside global music superstar Shakira at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final halftime show.

The Ugandan dancers announced their arrival through their official social media platforms, expressing excitement about representing Uganda and Africa on one of the world’s biggest stages.

“NYC, We Are Ready. Hello Uganda and Africa, this one is for you! Let’s go,” the group said.

The performance is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, during the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show. Shakira is among the global artists headlining the landmark event.

The Triplets Ghetto Kids will join Shakira and other international performers in a show designed to bring together football, music and social impact. The halftime performance is being produced in partnership with Global Citizen and supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

From Kampala’s Streets to the World Stage

The group, popularly known as Ghetto Kids, described the opportunity as a reminder of their journey from humble beginnings to global recognition.

“So excited about taking the stage with Shakira at the World Cup 2026 halftime show. This is a reminder of our journey from the ghettos to the biggest show,” the group said.

The dancers also shared memories of the place where their journey began, encouraging audiences to watch their documentary chronicling their rise from Kampala’s disadvantaged communities.

The Triplets Ghetto Kids are known for using music, dance and drama to support disadvantaged children, street children and orphans through their organisation’s mission of improving access to basic needs and opportunities.

Shakira Invitation

The Ugandan group was selected after gaining international attention for their energetic dance performances. Shakira invited the group to join her World Cup performance, describing their style as a celebration of global diversity through dance.

The collaboration follows the group’s continued rise on the international entertainment scene, having previously performed at major global events and worked with international artists.

“Thank you, Shakira, for giving us the chance to share our joy, talent and culture with the world,” the group said.

A Proud Moment for Uganda

The performance represents another milestone for Ugandan creative talent on the global stage, showcasing the country’s culture through dance.

The group said the opportunity is dedicated to the children and communities that inspired their journey.

“When stars lift others, the world shines brighter,” the Triplets Ghetto Kids said.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final halftime show will feature several international stars, including Shakira, with the event expected to attract a global audience.

For the Triplets Ghetto Kids, the appearance marks a remarkable transformation — from performing in Kampala’s neighbourhoods to sharing a stage watched by millions around the world.
