Granollers, Spain — Uganda’s long-distance runners Feb Chelogoi and Angeline Chelimo delivered strong performances on the international stage after both clinched silver medals at the La Mitja Granollers Half Marathon held in Spain on Sunday.

In the men’s race, Chelogoi put up a spirited run to finish second in a time of 1:00:46, narrowly missing gold in a highly competitive field. Kenya’s Esau Kemboi Kipkorir won the race in a personal best time of 1:00:39, while Spain’s Ilias Fifa completed the podium with a personal best of 1:01:47.

The women’s race also saw Uganda represented on the podium, with Angeline Chelimo claiming silver after clocking 1:12:31. Spain’s Nuria Gil Clapera won the race on her half-marathon debut in 1:12:11, while Ethiopia’s Keralem Mekuannit finished third in 1:12:47.

The double podium finish highlights Uganda’s continued strength in long-distance running and reinforces the country’s growing presence on the global road racing circuit. Athletics officials and fans have praised the athletes for their consistency and competitiveness against elite international opposition.

La Mitja Granollers is one of Spain’s most prestigious road races, attracting top runners from around the world and serving as an important benchmark event early in the athletics season.

Ugandan athletics stakeholders say the results are an encouraging sign as athletes continue preparations for upcoming international competitions under the World Athletics calendar.
