KAMPALA – Police in Kawempe have arrested popular TikToker Katongole Anthony, commonly known as “Chicken Chicken,” in connection with the alleged malicious damage of a motor vehicle belonging to fellow social media personality Sali Sharif, also known as “Shawa Shawa.”

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the arrest follows the circulation of a viral video on social media that allegedly shows the suspect damaging a Toyota Mark X, registration number UBM 696S.

Police said the incident occurred in the early hours of June 25, 2026, at around 3:00 a.m. in the parking area of Akamweesi Mall in Kawempe Division, Kampala District.

“Police in Kawempe have arrested Katongole Anthony, also known as ‘Chicken Chicken,’ in connection with a case of malicious damage to a motor vehicle,” SP Kawala said in a statement.

She added that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect acted alongside other individuals who are still on the run.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, together with other individuals who are still at large, allegedly smashed the vehicle’s windscreens, causing significant damage,” Kawala stated.

The damaged vehicle reportedly belongs to Sharif, a fellow TikTok content creator popularly known as “Shawa Shawa.”

Police confirmed that Katongole is currently being held in custody as investigations continue into the incident.

“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the other individuals involved,” Kawala said.

She reiterated the force’s commitment to enforcing the law and warned against acts of vandalism and violence.

“Police strongly condemn all acts of lawlessness and wish to remind the public that such conduct will not be tolerated,” she added.

The arrest has attracted widespread attention on social media, where both “Chicken Chicken” and “Shawa Shawa” have built large followings through online content creation.

Police have not yet disclosed the motive behind the alleged attack, saying investigations are ongoing.
