Government vehicles were spotted on Thursday morning, lined up along Station Road in Kampala as preparations intensified for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

According to eyewitness accounts, the convoy of official vehicles was being fuelled in preparation for duties linked to the national event, which is expected to draw high-level guests from within Uganda and abroad.

One of the drivers involved in the operation said the vehicles will be used for logistical support during the ceremony, including transporting invited guests arriving through Entebbe International Airport.

“These vehicles are being prepared to ferry guests who will be arriving through Entebbe for the inauguration,” the driver said.

The swearing-in ceremony will usher President Museveni into what would be his seventh elective term in office, following the recently concluded elections.

Preparations for the event have been ramping up across government institutions, with security, transport, and protocol units coordinating movements ahead of the national occasion.

According to earlier government briefings, the ceremony is expected to attract regional leaders, diplomats, and other dignitaries, with arrangements already underway to manage arrivals, security, and protocol logistics.

Media reports have also indicated that multiple state convoy units have been mobilised as part of broader preparations for what officials describe as a “national event of high importance.”

The swearing-in will take place on May 12, marking the formal beginning of the next presidential term following constitutional procedures.
