Standing at a massive 7 feet 6 inches (229 cm), Jongkuch Mach is officially taller than every active player in the NBA—including French star Victor Wembanyama.
Mach, born and raised in Perth, Australia, to South Sudanese parents, has seen his stock rise dramatically over the past year through Australia’s elite development pipeline. Representing the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the NBL1 East league, the teenage center has caught the attention of NBA scouts, top US college programs, and global media.
A Physical Marvel with Rare Mobility
Unlike many players with extreme height, Mach’s appeal extends beyond his sheer physical stature. Standing with a reach that allows him to touch and dunk the ball without his feet leaving the floor, Mach has impressed talent evaluators with his fluid lateral movement, rim protection, and transition mobility.
His national breakout came during the 2026 Under-20 Australian National Championships, where he led Western Australia to the final, recording a dominant six-block performance in the championship game.
Shortly after, Mach elevated his global profile at the prestigious adidas Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy, where he led the entire tournament in blocks per game (3.0) while competing alongside the NBL Next Stars roster.
“JK put his name on the map more than anybody because every NBA team was curious about who he is,” noted talent evaluators at the Eurocamp. “His mobility, size, hands, and shot-blocking ability make him a tremendous talent.”
$1M Pathway Decisions Ahead
Mach’s rapid ascension has sparked a high-stakes recruitment battle between top-tier U.S. college programs and Australia’s NBL Next Stars program. NCAA powerhouses including Louisiana State University (LSU), Colorado, Washington State, and Santa Clara have all extended scholarship interest as he prepares for his next career steps.
According to his representative, Solomon Dech, the focus remains on long-term physical conditioning and sustainable player development. Mach has added nearly 20 kilograms of functional muscle over the last 12 months to prepare his frame for high-level professional contact.
