A security guard has been arrested following the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old woman in Nansana Municipality after she allegedly rejected his romantic advances.

The victim has been identified as Immaculate Mpereza, also reported in some records as Mperirwe Immaculate. She was a mother of three, including twins, and worked as a waitress at a local bar.

Police named the suspect as Alexander Vicent Kimuli, also referred to in some reports as Asakali or Vincent Asakali. He is believed to be in his 40s to early 50s and was employed by a private security company.

The incident reportedly occurred in early March 2026 in the Nansana West area (Nakuule Zone).

Investigators said the suspect had been pursuing the victim for some time, allegedly buying her gifts and asking intermediaries to help him win her affection. However, the woman consistently rejected his advances.

Police believe the rejection may have triggered the shooting.

Residents said the incident shocked the community, with many calling for justice for the victim and condemnation of the violence.

Officers from the Uganda Police Force arrested the suspect and detained him at Nansana Police Station.

Authorities said he is expected to face murder charges once investigations are completed.

Violent crimes, including homicides, have occasionally been reported in parts of Wakiso District, prompting calls for stronger community safety measures.

Police urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
