Kampala — Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) has announced the promotion of two of its senior faculty members, recognising their leadership, scholarship, and contributions to public health education and research.

According to the school, the Appointments Board of Makerere University, at its 787th meeting held on 12 March 2026, approved the following promotions:

Dr. Fredrick E. Makumbi, Deputy Dean of MakSPH, has been elevated from Associate Professor to Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Dr. Christine Kayemba Nalwadda, Head of the Community Health and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS) Department, has been promoted from Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor.

In a statement, MakSPH praised the achievements of the two faculty members, saying, “We celebrate their leadership, scholarship, and continued contribution to strengthening public health training and research at MakSPH.”

These promotions underscore Makerere University’s commitment to academic excellence and the development of leadership in public health, particularly as Uganda continues to face complex health challenges requiring skilled research and practice.
