KAMPALA — A 19-year-old contestant from Northern Uganda is emerging as one of the most talked-about faces of the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda 2026 competition, after her elegance on the runway, academic achievements and youth advocacy message captured widespread attention online.
Kimberly Jael Aremo Acio, representing Kole District, has become a viral internet sensation among pageant followers, with social media users praising her confidence, natural beauty and stage presence ahead of the competition finale.
Beyond her appearance on the runway, Kimberly’s story has drawn attention because of her background as a high-achieving student and her commitment to using the pageant platform to inspire young people.
Before entering pageantry, Kimberly was a high school valedictorian and had aspirations of pursuing biomedical engineering. She says joining Miss Universe Uganda was an opportunity to use a wider platform for advocacy and youth empowerment.
“I decided to take the biggest stage, which is Miss Universe Uganda,” Kimberly said, explaining her decision to participate in the competition.
Her advocacy focuses on mentorship and empowerment of young people, especially girls, with Kimberly arguing that guidance and encouragement can help young people discover their potential regardless of their background.
“Every young person carries fire within them. Mentorship is simply someone lighting that match,” she said.
Kimberly’s journey has also been shaped by personal challenges. She has spoken about experiencing bullying while growing up, an experience she says strengthened her desire to encourage confidence and resilience among young people.
The Kole representative has credited her experiences with shaping her outlook on leadership and self-belief, saying she hopes to be remembered as someone who made others feel seen and valued.
Her rise in popularity has been amplified by online platforms, where runway clips and images from the competition have attracted significant engagement from audiences across Uganda and beyond. Many supporters have highlighted her graceful presentation and her decision to embrace a more natural style on the pageant stage.
Kimberly is among the contestants competing for the Miss Universe Uganda 2026 crown, representing one of 25 districts selected for the national competition.
Away from the spotlight, she describes herself as a content creator who enjoys sharing experiences online and using her voice to encourage young people. She has also cited Ugandan lawyer and activist Miria Matembe as one of the people who inspire her because of her courage and leadership.
As the Miss Universe Uganda competition progresses, Kimberly’s journey has become more than a pursuit of a crown — it has become a story of a young woman from Kole using beauty, education and advocacy to represent a new generation of Ugandan voices.
