Kiir welcomes new press secretary

JUBA, FEBRUARY 25, 2026 — Salva Kiir Mayardit has officially received the newly appointed Press Secretary, Arek Aldo Ajou, and tasked her with strengthening the operations of the Presidential Press Unit.

During the meeting on Wednesday, President Kiir congratulated Ajou on her appointment and underscored the significance of the role she assumes at a critical time for government communication.

He urged the new Press Secretary to foster strong professional relationships with both local and international media outlets, highlighting the importance of clear and timely communication in raising public awareness about government programs and policies.

In her remarks, Ajou expressed appreciation to the President for the confidence placed in her and pledged to uphold high standards of professionalism, discipline, and ethical conduct. She committed to working diligently to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of the Presidential Press Unit.

Officials noted that the appointment comes amid growing emphasis on effective public communication as a cornerstone for building public trust and keeping citizens informed about national priorities and developments.
