KAMPALA — The Uganda Police Force has taken a significant step in the investigation of the Ggaba daycare killings, submitting the case file of Okello Christopher Onyum, 39, to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review and legal direction.

The April 2, 2026 incident at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program left the country in shock after a man, reportedly posing as a parent, gained access to the facility and attacked children with a machete.

Four toddlers lost their lives in the brutal assault: Ryan Odeke (1.5 years), Keisha Alungat (2 years), Gideon Eteko (2.5 years) and Ignatius Sserunyange (2.5 years).

Fresh Scrutiny Over Past Allegations

As investigations continue into the Ggaba tragedy, police have also turned their attention to new claims emerging online. A widely circulated video features a woman alleging that the suspect was previously linked to the murder of her child in 2019 but was never held accountable.

Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma confirmed that authorities are now examining the claims, noting that they are seeking to establish whether there may have been earlier incidents involving the suspect that were not fully pursued.

The developments add another layer of urgency to the case, as the nation awaits further action from prosecutors.
