Legendary Congolese gospel music group Makoma is set to make a long-awaited return to Uganda, thrilling fans with a live concert in Kampala after 25 years away.

The performance is part of celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of New Vision, one of Uganda’s leading media groups.

The highly anticipated event will take place on March 6, 2026, at the Kololo Independence Grounds, bringing Makoma’s energetic blend of gospel, soul, and contemporary Christian music back to a city where they once captivated audiences.

Organisers say the concert will be more than just a show — it’s positioned as a reunion and celebration for longtime fans who grew up with Makoma’s uplifting sound, as well as a vibrant highlight of New Vision’s milestone year. Performers are expected to deliver high-energy gospel performances, timeless hits, and moments of praise and worship.

Tickets are already on sale with a range of options to suit different budgets and experiences: Silver/Ordinary: 50,000 UGX, Gold/VIP: 100,000 – 150,000 UGX and Diamond/VVIP: 250,000 UGX (premium front-row experience).

Fans can secure entry by purchasing tickets through MTN Mobile Money by dialing *2524# and following the prompts, or in some promotions by using *16520#. Those interested in table reservations or additional event details can call +256 758 961 166 or +256 730 073 217, and vendors are also encouraged to participate.

Promotions for the event are gaining traction across social media, with members of Makoma — including Nathalie Makoma — posting teasers and messages like “Uganda, we are coming!” that have stirred excitement among supporters.

The concert, organised in collaboration with Pacific Events Limited, New Vision, Lion Records, and other partners, promises to be one of the standout cultural events of 2026 for both gospel music lovers and broader audiences in Uganda.

If you grew up with Makoma’s music or love uplifting gospel performances, this historic return to Kampala is shaping up to be a can’t-miss experience.
