KAMPALA, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s autobiography, Sowing the Mustard Seed, has been translated into Chinese in a move seen as deepening ties between Uganda and China.

The Chinese edition was officially presented to the President on April 22, 2026, during a ceremony at State House Nakasero. The copy was handed over by Mr. Qiang Wenyu, Vice President of China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO).

Officials said the translation marks a significant milestone in Uganda–China relations, extending cooperation beyond infrastructure and trade into intellectual and ideological exchange.

Notably, the book has reportedly been adopted as required reading in Chinese military academies, signaling growing interest in President Museveni’s political and military thought.

Originally published in 1997, Sowing the Mustard Seed chronicles Museveni’s journey from student activism to leading a guerrilla war that brought him to power in 1986, while outlining his views on patriotism, pan-Africanism, and national development.

The development is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations, with analysts noting that the book’s inclusion in Chinese military training institutions reflects recognition of Uganda’s historical and leadership experiences on the global stage.
