Wakiso, Uganda — The Uganda Police Force has arrested three suspects following a break-in at a church in Wakiso District, where sound equipment was stolen.

According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, officers in Wakiso launched an investigation after unknown assailants broke into Kavumba Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Wakiso Town Council on the night of April 11, 2026.

“Police in Wakiso are investigating a break-in at Kavumba SDA Church… where unknown thugs stole a music amplifier and mixer,” Rusoke said.

He added that swift police action led to a breakthrough, with officers recovering the stolen items from a nearby house. “Our officers successfully recovered the stolen items, along with additional property that had earlier been stolen from a mosque,” he noted.

Police confirmed that three suspects—identified as Ssekitooleko Ronald, Wabwire, and Robert—have been arrested and are currently in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

The incident highlights a growing concern over thefts targeting places of worship. Rusoke warned that criminals are increasingly focusing on both churches and mosques, urging leaders to take preventive measures.

“Police urge leaders of places of worship to strengthen security measures by deploying guards, improving lighting around premises, and installing CCTV surveillance systems,” he said.

Authorities say investigations are continuing as they work to establish whether the suspects are linked to a broader network targeting religious institutions in the area.
