KAMPALA — The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) hosted a high-profile farewell dinner this week to honour the outgoing Chairman of its Board of Directors, Juma Kisaame, and to welcome the incoming Chairman, Emmanuel Katongole.
The event, shared publicly by John R. Musinguzi, Commissioner-General of URA, brought together senior government officials, including the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury. Mr. Musinguzi expressed his appreciation for Mr. Kisaame’s leadership and extended warm support for the new Board Chairman.
“I hosted a farewell dinner in honour of outgoing URA Board Chairman Juma Kisaame, where we also welcomed incoming Chairman Emmanuel Katongole, in the presence of the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury,” said Musinguzi in a post on social media.
He added:“I welcome the appointment of Mr. Katongole as Chairman of the Uganda Revenue Authority Board and looks forward to continued stewardship anchored in strong governance.”
Mr. Kisaame, a seasoned Ugandan accountant and businessman, has served as URA Board Chairman since March 2020, overseeing strategic direction and governance at the agency responsible for tax collection and revenue enforcement in Uganda.
Under his chairmanship, URA has continued its mandate of enhancing domestic revenue mobilisation, a key priority for Uganda’s economic development.
The appointment of Mr. Katongole marks a leadership transition for URA’s Board as it continues to steer the institution through evolving fiscal and governance challenges. Proceedings at the farewell dinner underscored the authority’s emphasis on strong institutional leadership and effective public-sector oversight.
