At least 13 people have been injured following a serious road crash at Nyangak River in Zombo District.

According to Michael Kananura, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Spokesperson for the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, the crash occurred at approximately 12:45 pm and involved a drone vehicle, registration number UBJ 956G. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Hoima to Alangi in Zombo District when the accident happened.

Preliminary findings indicate that upon reaching Nyangak River, the driver allegedly failed to brake while speeding, lost control of the vehicle, and it plunged into the river.

All 13 occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, sustained injuries in the crash. Police confirmed that two victims suffered serious injuries, while 11 others sustained minor injuries. The injured were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention.

Police have once again urged motorists to exercise caution while on the road, emphasizing that speeding significantly reduces reaction time and increases the likelihood of severe crashes.

“Observing speed limits and driving cautiously can prevent such incidents and save lives,” Kananura said.
