The Parliament of Uganda has gifted Abdullah Byaruhanga, the energetic fan widely celebrated as the official mascot and number one supporter of the East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games, an all-expenses-paid trip to Morocco.

The announcement was made on December 16, 2025, during the closing ceremony of the 15th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games at Parliament, by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa.

Byaruhanga, whose spirited presence and unwavering support stood out throughout the games, was recognised for cheering on all participating teams, with a special passion for Team Uganda. His enthusiasm earned him widespread admiration from athletes, officials, and spectators alike.

In recognition of his dedication, Parliament awarded Byaruhanga a medal and a fully sponsored trip to Morocco, where he will cheer on the Uganda Cranes at the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025, scheduled to kick off on December 21, 2025.

Announcing the gesture, Deputy Speaker Tayebwa said the award symbolised Parliament’s appreciation of fans who promote unity, sportsmanship, and national pride through sport.

The Parliament of Uganda later shared the announcement on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, drawing praise from the public and sports enthusiasts, who described the move as a heartwarming celebration of fan dedication.

Byaruhanga’s recognition capped off a colourful and successful edition of the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games, reinforcing the spirit of regional unity and the important role fans play in uplifting sport across East Africa.
