Former NBS Television anchor Mildred Tuhaise has joined the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) as Public Engagement Manager.
Tuhaise left Next Media Services at the end of May 2026 after several years in broadcast journalism. In her new role, she will be responsible for public outreach, stakeholder engagement and brand positioning at the national water utility.
Her appointment marks a transition from journalism into public-sector communications, adding her experience in media and strategic communication to NWSC’s public engagement work.
Tuhaise has an academic background in strategic communication and management from Makerere University, alongside her experience in journalism and television broadcasting.
Her move was welcomed by former colleagues and other industry players on social media.
Benson Ongom, a regional bureau chief, described Tuhaise as an “amazing person” while jokingly reminding her not to abandon farming-related content.
Tuhaise’s move comes amid a growing trend of journalists moving into corporate and institutional communications, where their experience in public communication, media relations and storytelling is increasingly being applied to organisational reputation and stakeholder engagement.
At NWSC, her new role places her at the intersection of the corporation and the public it serves, as the utility continues to engage customers and stakeholders on water and sewerage services across Uganda.
